Coach Matlock
Varsity Coach and Girl's Coordinator Coach Matlock is completing her 16th year in education. Her last six years were spent at Highland Park High School. During her tenure at Highland Park she led the Lady Scots to the playoffs 5 out of 6 years, including a 2012 team which advanced to the regional semifinals, one of the deepest playoff runs in Lady Scots’ history. Prior to Highland Park, Coach Matlock coached at Wylie High School. Her team was the first Wylie team to make the playoffs in district 9-5A. In addition to her coaching duties, Matlock will be the Women’s Coordinator and teach Physical Education. Coach Matlock graduated from Slaton High School in 1993 and attended Clarendon College, where she was named basketball team captain and participated in the National Small College Athletic Association Championship Tournament. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Studies and a Master’s degree in Physical Education, graduating summa cum laude from Tarleton State University. Coach Matlock and her husband, Roy have been married for 13 years and have a daughter, Jayci, who is five and a son Kyler who is 5 months old. Roy is currently a coach in Allen ISD. Coach Matlock and her husband are passionate about teaching kids and love to spend time supporting their schools. Coach Matlock considers it a privilege to be directly involved in the lives of young people, one that carries a great deal of responsibility. She feels it is her sincere calling to be a passionate teacher, a positive role model, and to encourage achievement at its greatest potential.” |
